Claire Elise Boucher was born on 17 March 1988. Her stage name is Grimes. Her first work has been described as going into "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. It has included influence from electronic music, hip hop and rock. She frequently incorporates science fiction and feminist themes within the lyrics. Five albums have come out. Grimes was born and raised in Vancouver but moved to Montreal at the age of 2000. Grimes started releasing her music in solo fashion from the mid 2000s. Two albums were released by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa in 2010. In 2012, Visions is her 3rd studio release. Grimes signed with 4AD. Visions is comprised of the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion" and was selected for nominations to The Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. [5] Following this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received high praise from critics as several publications named it the best album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Beyond the music industry, Grimes had a voice part in the gaming action Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the music competition game show Alter Ego.
